How do I use a shampoo & conditioner Bloc? We like to keep it simple. Rub the shampoo Bloc directly onto wet hair or between your hands with a small amount of water, until the bar froths up. Thoroughly massage the lather through your hair and scalp for a couple of minutes. Rinse the shampoo out, and then you’re all clean. Grab your conditioner Bloc and do the same for naturally shiny hair and a moisturised scalp.
How do I make my Bloc last longer? To make your Bloc last longer, keep the Blocs dry and well drained between uses.
How long do Wash Blocs last? Depending on how well you look after you Blocs and the length of your hair, our trials have found you get approximately 90 washes. Keep the Bloc dry and well drained and only wet it with a small amount of water when using it and you may get more than 90 washes!
Why is pH balanced important? The natural pH of hair is between 4.5-5.5. It is important to use shampoo and conditioner products with a pH near this level because it allows your hair cuticles to remain closed and the natural acidity level prevents funghi and bacteria from growing.
What does soap free mean? Traditional soap has a very high pH level. This often leaves skin dehydrated. Soap also strips away vital oils and removes all bacteria, even healthy ones. Soap free cleansers are ideal for people with sensitive skin and don't strip their skin of the good stuff like natural oils and healthy bacteria. We use mild surfactants that are naturally derived and biodegradable instead of lye/sodium hydroxide and animal or vegetable fats, which is used to make soap.
Are the ingredients naturally derived? Yes! All of our ingredients are naturally derived. We don’t include sulfates, parabens, silicones and synthetic fragrances. This is because we aim to have all of our products reef friendly and biodegradable in nature.
Are Wash Blocs safe to use in the ocean? Our Blocs are made from naturally derived ingredients and we endeavour to make our products as environmentally friendly as possible. We steer clear of synthetic fragrances, parabens, silicone and harmful preservatives. Our shampoo Bloc is completely reef friendly and you can use this in the ocean guilt free.
Our conditioner Bloc contains a conditioning emulsifier known as BTMS which is naturally derived from colza or rapeseed oil. This ingredient performs the role of conditioning the hair. Unfortunately, this ingredient has been found to be toxic to reefs. We have been searching far and wide for an alternative to this ingredient and have come across a couple that could fill the role of BTMS and be completely reef friendly, however, unfortunately we have been unable to pin down a supplier. We are working on this and as soon as we get our hands on a more sustainable alternative of this ingredient we will make the changes to our formula. We aren't perfect, we know this and we are working on it!
How do I travel with my Wash Bloc? When travelling with your Blocs, air dry or pat dry with a towel and store in a container or wrapped in a cloth.
